As a very active child, I experienced all the wonderful health benefits from playing sports and weight training. However, there is significant wear and tear that naturally comes with an active lifestyle. My passion is to help people, especially youth athletes, to be able to maintain an active lifestyle well into their golden years. It is easier and important to prevent injuries rather than to correct them. It certainly is a lot less pain and suffering too!
I played competitive volleyball growing up into my college years. It was my high school volleyball coach sophomore year that referred me to a chiropractor because I had knee pain for 2 years. Not knowing what a chiropractor was, I first sought help from my primary physician. I was never a fan of visiting doctors, but my knee pain was bad enough for me to go. The only thing the doctor could tell me was to take some Motrin, use ice, and follow some exercises on a sheet of paper. Even though I wasn’t familiar with medical care at the time, I refused to believe that the only solution to my problem was drugs and ice. I finally agreed to see a chiropractor, and even though I don’t remember much of what happened those first few visits, the relief I felt in the period following will forever burn in my memory. My knee pain disappeared and never returned! It’s been 10 years since that first adjustment. It’s safe to say that chiropractic changed my life. I decided at 15 years old that I wanted to be a chiropractor. I have wanted to share my excitement about chiropractic with others ever since.
Undergraduate education was just a formal step before an acceptance to Life Chiropractic College West. I received my B.A. in Exercise Science from Point Loma Nazarene University (PLNU) in sunny San Diego, CA. Upon graduating PLNU in 2014, I immediately started chiropractic school 6 weeks later.
I was blessed with many wonderful professors and mentor docs in the health center guiding me through school. I graduated from Life West in 2017 with distinction (Summa Cum Laude) and set the all time record in the health center for the most adjustments given by an intern. I loved my clinical experience, which confirmed my place in the chiropractic world.
In my last year at Life West, I also started a dual enrollment at Logan University, a chiropractic school in Missouri, for my Masters in Sports Science and Rehabilitation. This will allow me to certify as a sports chiropractor in the future.
Outside of chiropractic, I enjoy the warm sunshine, hanging out with my cats, and all things sports related. I recently relocated to Hawaii at the end of January 2018 and it has been a blast exploring my new home here.
I look forward to meeting you and serving you and your family.
